Good day all. Welcome back and today we are learning how to do the single crochet stitch.
For this lesson/tutorial, you will have to have watched my previous YouTube tutorial:
Or have read my previous blog post:
So you should now have a length of chain stitches as long as you require to practice or as indicated on your pattern:

1) Insert your crochet hook in the second chain from the hook (you always skip one chain if you are doing single crochet):

2) Yarn over - i.e. slide the hook underneath the yarn on your index finger so that the yarn is over the hook as per above picture.
3) Hook the yarn and pull it through the stitch you inserted your hook into so that you now have two loops on your hook:

4) Yarn over again (see point 3) and pull the yarn through the two stitches on your hook:

5) repeat steps 1-4 until you've reached the end of you chain.

6) Make one chain. You will make this one chain at the beginning of each row when doing single crochet stitches. It will help you get into position for your next stitches and make your work much neater. Please do not count this first chain as a stitch!

7) Turn the work so that you can work again from right to left (or left to right if you are left handed) and repeat steps 1-6 until you have reached the desired length of work.

I hope that you find this helpful! However it might just be easier if you go watch the YouTube Tutorial:

Please have a wonderful day.
